Taking live opera to regional elementary schools every year, Opera Coeur d’Alene’s “Opera-tunities” program was designed to instill in young school children an early appreciation of opera. Last year, Opera CDA performed a family friendly, FREE CONCERT PERFORMANCE of Little Red Riding Hood to the public on Sunday, May 15, 2016. Over the course of the next two weeks, Opera-tunities had 21 performances in 19 schools across the Inland Northwest
Since 2011, Opera Coeur d’Alene has produced six operas, visited 37 different schools, and held 99 performances, in front of over 27,000 children.
Opera-tunities features local and regional talented singers who gain stage experience through appearances throughout the community. Opera-tunities Goes to School introduces the world of opera through a 60-minute performance, presented to Kindergarten through 6th grade throughout the I.nland Northwest.
This program is supported by grants from Inland Northwest Community Foundation, Idaho Community Foundation, Hecla Charitable Foundation, U.S. Bank Foundation, and from funds provided by your school PTA.
